Interim Ontario terms
Terms of Service
Version 2026-08-13-interim. Effective August 13, 2026. Counsel review is tracked as an open governance item, and material updates will receive a new version and notice.
1. Scope
NSR is a property and tenancy record service for Ontario workflows. Quebec and all other provinces are excluded. NSR is not a law firm, property manager, bank, payment processor, or substitute for legal advice.
2. Accounts and authority
You must be at least 18, provide accurate information, protect your credentials, and use only the business role assigned to you. Owners must have authority for the properties, invitations, people, documents, and disclosures they place in NSR. Residents must use an invitation intended for them.
3. Tenancy records
NSR helps organize records but does not determine legal rights or replace Ontario forms, notices, service requirements, or professional advice. Owners remain responsible for lawful tenancy administration and for giving every required person the final agreement or notice.
4. Electronic signatures
In-app signing requires agreement to electronic signing, an authenticated actor, a legal name, a notice version and hash, a signature method, a timestamp, and association with the final document hash. Typed legal-name signing is the accessible default and drawing is optional. Parties may decline electronic signing where applicable and use a lawful alternative process.
5. Payments and subscriptions
Owner subscription billing and optional connected rent payments use Stripe. Rent charges are made on the owner's connected Stripe account; NSR does not receive the rent. Autopay requires a qualifying Ontario lease, a rent invoice, a connected owner account, and the resident's recorded lease-bound authorization. Residents may revoke future autopay and continue using the manual payment method in their lease. Owners remain responsible for processing fees, refunds, disputes, payout details, and lawful payment administration.
6. Privacy and exports
The Privacy Notice describes information handling. Export means a verified access-request process with identity review, search, third-party severance, and a one-time short-lived package. It is not an immediate unreviewed dashboard dump.
7. Acceptable use
Do not access another person's account, bypass security, upload malware or unlawful material, misuse personal information, submit false payment or tenancy evidence, interfere with the service, or use NSR for a property outside an enabled jurisdiction.
8. Availability, termination, and retained records
Features may change, experience interruptions, or be temporarily paused for security, maintenance, provider outages, or emergency response. Account closure ends access but does not override legal holds or an applicable retention obligation. Eligible information is processed through a verified deletion job that may anonymize or pseudonymize records that must be preserved.
9. Liability and governing law
NSR does not warrant that using the service makes an owner, resident, lease, notice, payment, or business process legally compliant. Ontario law governs these interim terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. Qualified advice should be obtained for tenancy, privacy, payment, tax, and legal decisions.
